Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and commitment to improving South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) services all through an engagement while using the agency's senior professionals in a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric exams.
Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% from the registered pupils in the instruction sector.
These learners obtained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment decision national government is producing within the life of very poor and vulnerable children is yielding a beneficial effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe stated.
